The āDā stands for higher ductility, which allows the steel to absorb stress and deform without sudden failure during seismic activity. This makes Fe 500D especially suitable for multi-storey buildings, bridges, and structures in seismic regions such as Northeast India.
Fe 550 TMT bars provide higher strength and are typically used in high-rise buildings and industrial structures where load requirements are significant. While they help reduce steel quantity, they require precise design and skilled workmanship due to their comparatively lower flexibility.
Fe 600 TMT bars offer very high strength and are mainly used in specialized infrastructure projects such as dams, heavy industrial units, and large engineering structures. Because of their high strength and lower ductility, they are generally not recommended for regular residential construction.
Selecting the correct TMT bar grade depends on factors such as the type of structure, number of floors, load requirements, seismic zone, and environmental conditions.
